Saturday 8th June – NYSD Division 2
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI v Marton 2nd XI – weather was breezy with sunny spells. Marton won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Marton 2nd XI 106 for 1 after 18.4 overs

Aycliffe’s first team were easily beaten by nine wickets at home to Marton 2nd XI.
The only bright spot of the game was Matty Atkinson, who was playing his first game for nine years and top scored with 38 off 31 balls, including seven boundaries and a six, in the Aycliffe innings and then took the only wicket to fall when Marton replied.
After seven games, the first team have 56 points and drop to the bottom of the second division table.

Skelton Castle 1st XI v Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI – weather was breezy with sunny spells. Newton Aycliffe won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Skelton Castle 1st XI 45 all out after 18.1
Jai Sander 5 for 30, Tez Smit 4 for 6 and Matty Greaves 1 for 5
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI 34 all out after 15.1 overs
The club’s 2nd XI lost a very low scoring game by 11 runs away at Skelton Castle 2nd XI.
Aycliffe fast bowler Jai Sander (sponsored by Armstrong Building Services, pictured above) made the most of the bowler friendly conditions to finish with career best figures of 5 for 30 from his excellent seven over spell. Tez Smit also deserves credit for an equally excellent spell of bowling taking four wickets for just six runs from his 9 over spell, including six maidens.
After eight games, the second team have 49 points and drop down to second bottom, in 12th place in the fourth division table.
