Newton Aycliffe 1st XI v Hartlepool 2nd XI – weather was warm and sunny. Hartlepool won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Newton Aycliffe 1st XI 98 all out after 23 overs

Hartlepool 2nd XI 101 for 4 after 20 overs

The first team put in a below par performance with the bat and were comfortably beaten by second in the table Hartlepool 2nd XI by 6 wickets.
Sam Telford (sponsored by The Fairhursts, pictured above) put in a good individual performance, firstly scoring 20 runs from just nine balls, including five boundaries and when the visitors replied, he took 3 for 7 with the ball, his best bowling figures for ten years.
So after six games, Aycliffe’s first team have accrued 62 points and sit in eighth place in the NYSD 2nd division table.

Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI v Darlington RA 2nd XI – weather was warm and sunny. Darlington RA won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Newton Aycliffe’s young 2nd team produced the shock result of the day in the NYSD 4th division to beat promotion candidates Darlington RA 2nds at home by 59 runs.
Sixteen-year-old Tom Dearden (sponsored by Kevin Burton) had an excellent individual performance for his team, firstly top scoring in the Aycliffe innings with 45 runs off 59 balls and his eye catching knock contained seven boundaries and a six. When the visitors batted, Dearden got to work with the ball and he finished his ten over spell of leg spin bowling with four wickets for 39 runs.
After 8 games, the 2nd XI have picked up 74 points and sit in sixth place in the NYSD fourth division table.
