Saturday 30th April – NYSD Division 2
Maltby 1st XI v Newton Aycliffe 1st XI – weather was sunny and mild. Maltby won the toss and chose to bat first.
Maltby 1st XI 168 all out after 39 overs
Matty Greaves 4 for 43, Leo Mercy 3 for 19 and Luke Telford 2 for 44
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI 115 all out after 31 overs
Tom Dearden 21 not out, Joe Teasdale 16 and George Slatcher 15
Aycliffe 1st team lost by 53 runs away to resurgent Maltby 1st XI despite some promising performances by the younger members of the team.
17 year old spinner Matty Greaves lead the way with the ball finishing with his best first team figures of 4 for 43 from 13 overs and he was supported well by 16 year old Leo Mercy who took 3 for 19.
When Aycliffe batted, 15 year old Tom Dearden (sponsored by Kevin Burton) showed his resilience with a defiant unbeaten 21 off 59 balls faced.

Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI v Guisborough 2nd XI – weather was sunny and mild. Guisborough won the toss and chose to bat first.
Guisborough 2nd XI 225 for 5 after 40 overs
Will Dearden 2 for 37, Patrick Howe 2 for 62 and Harrison Pearson 1 for 35
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI 115 all out after 39.3 overs

Aycliffe’s young 2nd team were desperately unlucky not to get a deserved draw in their home game with Guisborough 2nd XI when they lost their last wicket with just three balls to go and suffered defeat by 110 runs.
13 year old Will Dearden again took the honours with the ball finishing his ten overs with the respectable figures of 2 for 37.
In reply Patrick Howe top scored for Aycliffe with a fighting 29 from 89 balls faced including six boundaries.
