Saturday 29th August – NYSD Division 2
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI v Rockliffe Park 1st XI – weather was cool, cloudy and windy. Rockliffe Park won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI 14 for 1 after 5 overs
Sam Telford 11, Luke Telford 2 not out and Adam Gittins 1 not out
Game abandoned as a draw due to wet pitch and both teams each get 6 points.
Bank Holiday Monday 31st August – NYSD Division 2
Northallerton 1st XI v Newton Aycliffe 1st XI – weather was sunny and warm. Northallerton won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI 277 for 5 after 50 overs
Sam Telford 89, Adam Gittins 62, Adam Randall 59
Northallerton 1st XI 161 for 9 after 50 overs
Michael Howe 3 for 45, James Layfield-Carroll 2 for 27 and Jack Slatcher 2 for 45
Aycliffe’s first team were left frustrated after failing to take the final Northallerton wicket and so came away with a winning draw.
Sam Telford (pictured above) roared back to form after an indifferent season so far, with a superb 89 from 81 balls and his terrific innings included 16 boundaries.
Michael Howe bowled well taking 3 for 45 from his 13 overs, but Aycliffe were unable to take the vital tenth wicket, which would have given them a well deserved victory.
Aycliffe earned 17 points from the draw and that takes their points total to 100 from 8 games played and moves them up to 6th place in the NYSD 2nd division table.

Richmond 4th XI v Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI v Stockton 2nd XI – Game cancelled due to waterlogged ground and both teams each get 6 points.
Bank Holiday Monday 31st August – NYSD Division 4
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI v Northallerton 2nd XI – weather was sunny and warm. Northallerton won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI 206 for 9 after 40 overs
Dan Weldon 57, Joe Haines 30 and Owen Smith 22
Northallerton 2nd XI 69 all out after 24.3 overs
Thomas Dearden 5 for 26, Joe Teasdale 4 for 10 and Harrison Pearson 1 for 7
The 2nd team had a tremendous 137 run victory at home to Northallerton 2nd XI.
Dan Weldon top scored for Aycliffe with a superb career best 57 from only 63 balls faced and he smashed ten boundaries in his memorable innings.
When the visitors batted they found 13 year old leg spinner Tom Dearden in unplayable form as he finished with his best senior figures of 5 for 26.
The 2nds picked up 25 points from their victory over Northallerton and that takes them up to 7th place in the 4th division table with 76 points from seven games played.
