Newton Aycliffe crashed to their sixth straight defeat under the lights at Moore Lane Park this week.
The Newtonians have dropped to second-bottom in the Northern League first division after they were beaten 2-0 by seventh-placed side North Shields on Tuesday night.
It was Aycliffe’s fifth consecutive league defeat after the Blues were dumped out of the FA Vase at the first hurdle by Whickham a couple of weeks ago.
After a promising start to the 2017-18 season under managers Dan Mellanby and Deano Brown, Aycliffe’s poor recent run of form suggests it will be a difficult campaign for the duo.
So they will need football fans from the town to rally round the club as they look to get their season back on track.
Aycliffe’s next game is a trip to neighbours Bishop Auckland on Wednesday September 27.
