Aycliffe Running Club athletes competed at Northumberland Half Marathon and Hartlepool Marina 5 on Sunday.
Runners enjoyed great success with many gaining new personal bests (PBs) and also being placed in their categories.

Three club runners participated in Northumberland Half Marathon. It is a challenging 13.1-mile course over undulating (hilly) rural roads.
It started and finished at Kirkley Hall near Ponteland. Running conditions were good, cool with an occasional slight breeze.
Wendy Bake was first to finish for the club in 1:45:22, placing 2nd in her category (female over 40).
She was closely followed by Trish Kay in 1:48:32 and 2nd in her age category (female over 50). She was followed by Susan Clark with a time of 2:17:35 and 3rd in her category (female over 60). All three runners were pleased with their times.
Eighteen Aycliffe runners turned out for Hartlepool Marina 5. This is a five-mile flat race which goes along the seafront.
Ten runners in total recorded personal bests. First home for the club was John Surtees in a time of 28:20, a PB. He was followed by Mark Wade (28:45, a PB), Stephen Smith (33:53, a PB) and John Burnside (34:17).
First lady home for the club was Michelle Jane in a time of 34:45, a PB. She was followed by Robert Jayne (35:17, a PB), Dave Blewitt (36:10), Sandra Collins (36:23), Peter Smith (37:28), Michael Brunskill (37:30), Angela Barrett (38:00, a PB), Rob Nicholson (38:33), Amanda Heywood (41:30, a PB), Natalie Dufferwiel (42:32), Heather Fenwick (43:45, a PB), Denise Evans (43.45, a PB), Judith Porter (44:40) and Ray Todd (51:39).
