Newton Aycliffe’s play-hopes were given a boost at the weekend with an away win in Leeds.
The Newtonians won 2-0 at Garforth Town on Saturday – making up for a disappointing home defeat a week prior – to keep their promotion hopes alive.
Aycliffe are currently fourth, two places inside the play-offs with just three home matches and two away trips.
Brian Atkinson’s side have a home double header coming up, with North Ferriby visiting on Saturday (April 5) and Heaton Stannington next Saturday (April 12).
A brace from defender Aaron Brown (pictured above) in the second half was what separated the two teams in West Yorkshire on Saturday.
Garforth had an impressive home record going into the game, but Aycliffe wore them down to claim three huge points and a double over the newly promoted side.
Elsewhere that day Emley fell to a shock 3-1 defeat to Ashington and Bishop Auckland managed to stifle Belper Town with a 3-0 draw.
