A Woodham Academy student has won silver in the national biathlon championships after winning the regional trials.
Niall Coulthard took second place in the British Schools’ Modern Biathlon National Finals at Crystal Palace. The Year 10 student qualified for the finals after finishing first in the regional trials held at Hexham.
Kim Hall, Head of PE at Woodham Academy, said: “Everyone at Woodham Academy congratulates Niall on this outstanding achievement. His success is a result of his hard work and determination, and is thoroughly deserved.”
Niall, who also represents the Sedgefield 75 Swimming Club, completed a 1600m run and a 200m swim, to place second overall in the boys’ under 15 category.
