Newton Aycliffe’s Northern League club will hope to add to a midweek cup win with a league victory at home this weekend.
Peter Dixon’s side hit a blip when they suffered back-to-back 3-0 defeats against Guisborough and title-chasing North Shields.
But they bounced back with a 3-1 win at home to Hebburn Town in the second round of the League Cup on Tuesday night.
And they’ll hope to further improve their league standing when they take on Ashington at the Aux Audio Stadium on Saturday.
The Northumberland club, who sit just one place above Aycliffe in the first division, are on the back of a five-match unbeaten run, including a 7-0 cup thumping over Thornaby during the week.
They have also beaten Newcastle Benfield 3-1, Penrith 2-1 and drawn with Celtic Nation (2-2) and Whitley Bay (1-1) in their last four league games.
Kick-off on Saturday is 3pm.
