Former Newton Aycliffe coach Brian Atkinson has been appointed Spennymoor Town’s new assistant manager.
The 41-year-old ex-Sunderland and Darlington midfielder played a major role in Aycliffe’s rise from the Durham Alliance League to the Northern League top flight in the last four years.
He took a step back from the club last October – but was appointed number two to Moors boss Jason Ainsley on Tuesday night.
