Armed officers were called to Newton Aycliffe town centre today (Monday) to arrest a man.
The male, 30, was seen in the Aycliffe area and arrested shortly after 9.30am.
A police spokesperson said: “Armed officers were deployed to Newton Aycliffe town centre at 9.30am this morning to assist with the arrest of a 30-year-old man.
“He was located and arrested without incident by unarmed officers and is currently in custody.”
