The huge shift between globalisation and technology has already begun and roles that did not exist five-to 10 years ago are already in great demand while changes to existing roles are starting to emerge.
Teesside University’s Digital Skills for Growth project has developed a range of FREE online activities to help individuals increase their digital knowledge and abilities.
These online activities are available to those working in County Durham, no matter what size or sector, including those on furlough.
With 10, jam-packed, short online accredited courses covering a range of popular topics, there’s something for everyone.
Eligible individuals can immediately sharpen up their professional development and knowledge in areas such as Coding, Power BI, Data Analytics or Visualisation, Machine Learning and more.
Courses start from May 4, and are delivered over two half days per week with the exception of Digital Marketing, which is one full day per week. All software and equipment will be provided, meaning there is no cost for completing a course.
The courses have received some great feedback and have helped people to understand and implement their new learning into their current role or, in some cases, have encouraged individuals to change roles completely.
Online taster sessions are available for each course and provide a fantastic way to find out more about a subject and understand how it can be used within your role or business.
These short, sharp bites of learning provide a great opportunity to learn something new in as little as an hour and are delivered online, available to watch in your own time.
Taster sessions have also been created for key topics such as using TEAMS, creating shortcuts on your iPhone and using Google Toolkit. Plus, there’s a range of sessions tailored to teachers in Secondary and Further Education to support the design and delivery of interactive, online classes. These cover everything from coding to programming a BBC Micro:Bit.
There’s also a ‘Train the Digital Trainer’ taster session that provides a wealth of hints and tips on creating online classes that really engage and captivate your audience, from any age.
