Saturday 6th July – NYSD Division 2
Marton 2nd XI v Newton Aycliffe 1st XI – weather was warm and sunny. Marton won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Newton Aycliffe 1st XI 219 all out after 49.1 overs

Aycliffe’s first team picked up their second successive 25-point victory of the season after a tough 24 run win away at Marton 2nd XI. Adam Randall (sponsored by DTS Joinery) batted superbly for Aycliffe, hitting his highest score since returning to club this season, eventually being dismissed for 74 and his memorable innings included seven fours and two sixes.
This much needed win pushes Aycliffe up to 7th in the NYSD 2nd division table with 161 points from 13 games played.

Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI v Preston 1st XI – weather was warm and sunny. Aycliffe won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Preston 1st XI 208 for 5 declared after 45 overs
George Slatcher 2 for 20, Joe Haines 2 for 45 and Leo Mercy 1 for 21
Newton Aycliffe 2nd XI 128 for 8 after 35.4 overs

The 2nd team again showed their fighting spirit when they drew at home to third in the table Preston 1sts. George Slatcher (sponsored by Dean and Tina Greaves, pictured above)) put in a brilliant all round performance, firstly taking 2 for 20 in the Preston innings, then top scoring when Aycliffe batted with 44 from 109 balls faced and his innings included six boundaries.
Other results mean that Aycliffe’s second team drop down to ninth in the fourth division table with 83 points from 11 games played.
