Durham County Council is encouraging local companies to do their bit to give young people in the care system or leaving care a leg up when it comes to securing a job.
The Teenagers 2 Work scheme works with businesses across the county to offer young people the necessary work experience, vital to give their future careers a boost.
Offering a young person work experience can help them to develop new skills, increase their self confidence and job prospects.
By giving teenagers who are in care an insight into the world of work, companies can raise the profile of their organisation within the community, influence young people coming into the labour market and also benefit from an additional pair of hands.
Teenagers 2 Work will make sure the young person is suitable for the organisation, provide basic induction training as well as making regular visits to the workplace to ensure ongoing support for both sides.
If you would like to find out more information about the scheme and how your organisation can make a difference to a young person in care you can contact Durham County Council.
