Tips on tracing your family tree will be available at two courses starting in September.
The family history sessions are specifically aimed at people who are interested in using the sources available at Durham County Record Office.
Dawn Layland, Durham County Record Office education and outreach archivist, said: “This is a really good chance for people to get started on their family tree and learn how to use the sources we have here at the record office, including our microfilm records.”
Courses will run on Thursday mornings and Tuesday evenings from the week beginning 17 September and will cover the same topics.
Each course costs £20 and includes three sessions lasting 90 minutes.
Places must be booked in advance by emailing [email protected] or by calling 0191 383 3683.
