Newton Aycliffe lawnmower manufacturer Husqvarna is gearing up to take on 680 extra staff as part of its summer rush.
The Aycliffe Business Park factory, part of the global group behind household names including Flymo, has been given the contract to manufacture all its robotic mowers ahead of around 30 other factories worldwide.
Now the Aycliffe facility is recruiting for its biggest intake of temporary workers yet to cope with summer demand, including seasonal operators, forklift drivers and customer service advisors.
A handful of permanent roles including project engineers, materials planners, line leaders, machine setters and workshop technicians are also waiting to be filled.
Husqvarna says it is recruiting for 680 temporary workers and about six permanent staff.
The site is also a base for automotive manufacturing – using cutting-edge moulding equipment to make components for the likes of Jaguar Land Rover.
Sweden-headquartered Husqvarna manufactures a range of six auto-mowers, a product which, like a robotic vacuum cleaner, operates by itself.
Most of the lawnmowers made at its Newton Aycliffe factory get shipped across the world.
