An estimated 6,000 people enjoyed a free fireworks display despite adverse weather.
Around 6,500 wristbands had been handed out for Great Aycliffe Town Council’s event on bonfire night.
And despite the bad weather, nearly all turned out for the spectacular showcase.
Town clerk Andrew Bailey said: “Everyone worked hard and co-operated together to get the display ready for the evening.
“All 6,500 access bands were given out and the event was very well attended despite the rain showers and wet conditions.
“The public reaction to the display was extremely positive with many of them stopping members of staff to say how much they had enjoyed the fireworks and had danced along to the accompanying music.
“Overall, despite the challenges of the weather, the event went well and was enjoyed by all those who attended.”
