Aycliffe Today business manager Sharon Hutchinson introduces the 43rd issue of Aycliffe Today Business…
Some of you will have already read online that I was recently appointed the new business manager for Aycliffe Today.
As a proud Newtonian – and a huge champion of Aycliffe Business Park – this was a decision that didn’t take me long to take, and a challenge which I’m very much looking forward to.
Few will know that I actually worked with Martin Walker to launch this magazine more than seven years ago, offering advice, guidance and some local contacts to get the publication up and running.
I moved on from the role I was in then, and spent a number of years as operations director for Stockton-based law firm Endeavour Partnership – a role which was challenging and rewarding in equal measures.
It has been fabulous to see the continued success of the magazine over the years, especially when Martin used it as a blueprint for publications in other areas, so naturally I was thrilled when he asked me if I would like to ease his workload by taking the lead on the Aycliffe Today brand and magazine.
With more time and energy to dedicate, I am looking forward to not only building on the work he has done, but hopefully improving our product and offering as a vehicle for businesses to market themselves and connect with one another.
Aycliffe Business Park has grown immeasurably over the last seven to eight years, with more expansion developments to come.
It is always fantastic to see big businesses decide to make Aycliffe their home, not just because of the profile it gives us on the national stage, but because so many small businesses feed off that growth, safeguarding jobs as well as creating new ones and therefore positively impacting on the local economy.
We see it as our job to be a vehicle for communication and connection, and I am excited at the prospect of working with more of the companies and people here on the business park, hearing and sharing your success stories, as we all continue to grow and thrive.
I also have a few plans up my sleeve to put my stamp on Aycliffe Today Business, so watch this space!
I wish you all the very best of luck in 2020.
